Trapped in a house with my dad, what could go wrong?
I realized last week that quarantining with my dad has the possibility of turning into a Grey Gardens situation real fast. And then I almost started this letter by talking about my outfit which means things are snowballing towards that. Just picture one of the virus spread graphs but the X axis is “Days Sarah is in Quarantine” and Y axis is “Similarities to Little Edie Beale” and you got it.
Anyway, last week when I realized long term home work was a thing, I ordered a bunch of cheap leggings and coordinated t shirts and it’s the very best outfit for today.
Legal Innovation Corps
Cat Moon is collecting names of legal innovators are willing to help build/design/plan for all the tools and changes that are going to be needed in the wake of Coronavirus. I would like to see a bunch of librarians sign up because we have a lot of direct experience helping individuals navigate legal processes and make information presentable. Sam Harden had some ideas about what’s needed.
Lawyers: how can you help?
Evictions are going to go way up.
So are requests for modifying child support due to changing income.
So are foreclosures. We are past the point now of having ng enough resources to solve this with lawyers doing pro bono.

I poked my head into legal twitter last night and am trying to decide if I want to reactivate my public twitter account and jump in. I think with any emergency situation there’s always people at the ready to jump in and use it as an excuse to promote the thing they’ve been flogging for years. I generally have no patience for any bullshit but I especially don’t now so I’m leaning towards waiting for the talkers to get done talking and jump in when the doers get doing.
Coronavirus Hero
One of you must know who this is. Bless him for doing what he can how he can. Tell him I said thank you and that he’s doing amazing.
Ideas for Libraries
My local public library usually requires a proof of address and ID to get a card. They (rightfully) closed their branches and are making card sign up immediate and online. So check your library - it might not be too late to get access.
In related news, apparently Erik Larson has a new book out about Churchill during the Blitz and I placed a hold on that real fast.
My sister reports:
Vendors Doing Good
Legal vendors are stepping up during this unprecedented time. Clio is committing $1 million towards helping lawyers during this time. And Casetext is offering free access.
If you know of any others, drop me a line at sarah.glassmeyer at gmail. I love shining a light on people being decent.
Two Spaces for Life
Maybe a Metaphor?
I don’t know if you want to call this a metaphor or what, but we got some snow last night but my little daffodils and tulips are standing strong and poking through. Better times are ahead.
A few months ago, my brother posted posted something on Facebook that went something like “In the Midwest, instead of saying ‘I love you’ we say ‘watch for deer!’” I think the new “watch for deer” is “wash your hands!”
