I’m Supposed to be Back on Twitter
And yet here we are...
I realized this week that my self-imposed public Twitter suspension was supposed to end on Easter. If I missed it I’d be back but I honestly don’t. Like, I’m trying to keep myself and my father alive, I don’t need to interrupt that by reading someone’s terrible opinion in 280 character increments. I will probably raise my head next week because my friend John is hosting a Twilight Zone Watch Party and I absolutely adore The Twilight Zone and John.
Other than that, I honestly feel like any contributions I would have towards professional conversations are not worth the trouble. I’m like that gif of NeNe Leakes - I said what I said. My twitter feed is not a request for debate and I don’t have the time, patience or energy to explain to people who for some reason think I just fell off a turnip truck and haven’t, in fact, been doing this for almost 15 years that actually I do know what I’m talking about. Honestly, just read Jordan Furlong. He’s been saying some really smart things about the post-pandemic legal world.
I also don’t feel like opening my private life up for public consumption. Believe it or not, I’m actually a pretty private person and only share my life with people that I can trust and frankly twitter has pissed me off and so it’s cut off.
The only other option is to discuss politics and current events and…no thank you. I will say this, though. The longer the current political climate goes on, the more convinced I am that James Baldwin was right.
I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.
So anyway, yeah. If you need to be in touch, email me at sarah.glassmeyer @ gmail. I’m honestly not checking my DMs or notifications. I had to log into my public twitter account in early March and saw a bunch and sort of wanted to throw up. Haven’t looked since.
To end on something pretty, on Sunday my dad went up to the Indiana Dunes state park to ride his bike. He had a flat early in his ride and since it was such a nice day he decided to hike up Mt Tom, which is a big dune on the park property. Now remember, he had a hip replacement last year and hasn’t been able to do this since 2017. So he was pretty chuffed that he was able to do this again. Here’s a picture from the trail:
Be well.
